Each year, in the Fall, the Northern New England Star, Minuteman, or Hudson Mohawk sections of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America hosts Farberallye, the annual rally and driving tour through the Great Northeast’s and New England’s spectacular fall colors.  

This year’s event will be hosted by the

Our Home base will be the Middlebury Inn in Middlebury, VT.  This historic inn dates back to 1827 and while updated to modern comforts, it still retains much of the appeal of the historic building and inn that it is.  Go to the inn’s webpage to get a taste of the old age appeal.  Look at  www.middleburyinn.com   and   www.middleburyinn.com/rooms/

Our rally and tour willl take us through the beautiful scenery of the Lake Champlain Valley and the Green Mountains, which should be in the peak color season.

Here are some details of the event:

On Friday evening, 5-7 PM, we’ll have a “meet and greet” reception at an event room at the Middlebury Inn with hors d’oeuvres and a private cash bar to kick off the rally. Afterwards if a full meal is desired the Middlebury Inn has dining facilities or you may head to restaurants nearby.

Breakfast on Saturday is on  your own; there are many choices in the Inn to make it convenient to start the day there. Please be sure to be at the Drivers’ Meeting at 9:00 AM sharp. Then the first car will be off on the rally course at 10:00 AM, deli box lunches in hand.

The rally itself will have both a brain-teasing quiz contest about things you will see along the route and a precision time and distance driving contest. The course should take no more than 3 hours including the ½ hour allotted break time. All should be back at the Middlebury Inn by 3:30.

Saturday evening’s awards banquet will recognize the winners in both categories and give everyone a chance to chat about our cars and the day’s fun that we had in them. The awards banquet will open with a cash bar opening at 5:00 followed by dinner and the awards presentations.

Sunday morning is at your leisure. Breakfast is on your own, and we’ll have an informal car show and group photos at 9:00 in our designated parking area where we’ll say our goodbyes and “see ya next year”.  For Sunday, a (mini-event at an interesting local point of interest is under investigation.)

The Middlebury Inn is offering a group rate of $220 per night + taxes. To book a room call the hotel directly at (802) 388-4961 or (800) 842-4666. Mention you are a Mercedes Benz Car Club member attending the rally event for the $220 rate. The hotel has agreed to hold a block of 25 rooms for us at this rate until September 18. While there are 71 rooms total in the inn,  after September 18th,  the guaranteed availability of the block of room will expire.  If you are registering after September 18th, they will still recognize the special $220 rate, but the block of rooms may no longer be available.

So it’s best to book early.

The whole idea is to enjoy yourself and have fun while sharing a rally experience with old and new Mercedes enthusiast friends. So, please join us for the 46th running of this outstanding event in the crisp air and the beautiful colors of Autumn in Vermont!
